GHOSTS | WITCHES & MAGIC | SHIFTERS | VAMPIRES

THIS WEEK: SHAPESHIFTERS! 🐺

In mythologyfolklore and speculative fictionshapeshifting is the ability of a being or creature to transform its physical form or shape. This is usually achieved through an inherent ability of a mythological creature, divine intervention or the use of magic.

Let’s be honest – shapeshifters in fiction are THE HOTTEST nowadays. After the Twilight rush of vampires and werewolves, shifters took off like a bat out of hell. There are wolf shifters, big cat shifters, bear shifters, dragon shifters, unicorn shifters, pretty much every type of shifter you could ask for available at the press of a button on your ereader.  And with the sudden explosion of Reverse Harem, suddenly we had lots of sexy times with multiple furries.

This week, we have another great round up of wonderfully feral books for you, plus more giveaways! So get comfortable, prepare your ereader, and enter to win some goodies.

Lastly… What’s your favorite portrayal of shapeshifters in popular media? I personally LOVE Josh Hartnett’s portrayal of the werewolf Ethan Chandler in Penny Dreadful!

They did pretty good on the wolves in Twilight series wasn’t thrilled with most of the rest of the stuff they did with the movies …. vampire diaries done pretty good with the wolves too

I loved Grimm’s Wesens. It was such a unique idea and I loved how they included all the mythology and fairytales about the creatures in the stories.

Definitely got to be Grimm and disappointed there not doing a 7th series but the details that went into the different species of creatures was amazing

I love the different shifters of the Aloha Shifters Jewels of the Heart and Pearls of Desire, and the Blue Moon Saloon. Dragons, Bears, Tigers, Wolves. Almost all the shifter books are pretty interesting.

Where to start…there are those Katie MacAlister dragons…then you have Christeen Feehan’s Big Cats and Jennifer Ashley’s Big Cats and, as said before, there are the shifters of Sherrilyn Kenyon. Absolutely cannot forget to mention the shifters of Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Terry Spear, Christine Warren and those wonderfully yummy alpha hunks of Lora Leigh. Yes, I have their books in print – would not even share them with my mother in TN (I’m in MN) after the first couple. Still have to replace those.

Have not included any eBooks here, though there have been a few. I guess it’s just because I have been reading the ones I named for many years and they stick with me better than many of the short eBooks that are now passing for books. My attention span requires more in the storylines, something other than just sex. Do not get me wrong, I do like the sex in books, but all of the above authors, and many others, have great stories, good mysteries, heroes and Heroines that do not always have the money to get out of scrapes as in many of the books today.

As far as movies and TV, never got into Twilight. Think it was all that teenage angst. Did see a few of the Vampire Diaries, but never saw any shifters in those. One of my favorites is still The Howling…no blood and gore all over the place, but just as scary without. The True Blood series also did a good job with shifters, both books and cable series. Know I have forgotten some but really have not watched any TV as my TV died, and got thrown off 3rd floor patio into snow bank…But that’s another story.

I enjoyed the series Bitten even if it didn’t look that realistic at times and the plot seemed to wander, I still ended up searching for the who lot to see. Nothing beats Grimm, have bought every season available on DVD 😀
