Spooktober Spectacular: Ghosts

Welcome to the Haunted by Reading Spooktober Spectacular!

Each Tuesday during the month of Halloween (yes, the month of Halloween), we will spotlight a new type of paranormal phenomena. Each week will have FREE ebooks, the best deals from some of our favorite authors, and LOTS of cool giveaways!

From Wikipedia:

In folklore, a ghost  (sometimes known as an apparitionhauntphantompoltergeistshadespecter or spectrespiritspook, and wraith) is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear to the living. In ghostlore, descriptions of ghosts vary widely from an invisible presence to translucent or barely visible wispy shapes, to realistic, lifelike visions. The deliberate attempt to contact the spirit of a deceased person is known as necromancy, or in spiritism as a séance.

You can probably guess from the title of this blog that ghosts are my FAVORITE type of supernatural. I’m obsessed with true paranormal TV shows like “A Haunting” and “Ghost Hunters.” I would always choose a spooky ghost story over any other type of novel, and those stories tend to leave the most lasting effect on my psyche – probably because they seem more likely to happen to me than a monster raging through the countryside.

And can we talk about just how detrimental the search for these books was on my pocketbook? I think my Kindle is screaming at this point.

So get comfortable, prepare your ereader, and enter to win some goodies as Haunted by Reading kicks off our SPOOKTOBER SPECTACULAR!

Lastly… Check out some super awesome historical ghost pictures! Leave me a comment and let me know if you think they’re real or not… (Warning! Some are super creepy and made my heart pound) 😱

  1. Lacey Waters

Some of those were seriously creepy! The one that’s supposed to be 9 feet tall just looked like a Star Wars character to me ^_^ I have no idea if they’re real or not, but it seems as if the people that took them believed it!

  2. Sherry Kinney

I’m a believer that spirits exist! Most of the pictures look legit but a couple dont. The girl on the balcony in the fire seems pretty iffy to me! Love all those Ghostbuster Movies!!

Some of them look so real they give me the heebies! But you’re totally right, sometimes you can tell when something doesn’t look right!

  3. Cindi Knowles

My son loved the Ghostbusters cartoon when he was little. He was like Rainman, if we weren’t home in time to watch it he would start flipping out! I’m not exaggerating! Thank God for VHS back then once I got him to understand that it was taping (he was 3), saved me from many embarrassing scenes!

  4. John Barnes

Sorry but if your competitions/giveaways are for IS onky, this isn’t for !e as I’m resident in the UK. I’ll stick with authors who include all of their readers, thanks.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I do digital giveaways and freebies ALL the time, that are for readers anywhere. But I live in the US, and shipping costs are astronomical to ship abroad. I can’t afford a $60 shipping bill to send a DVD outside the country. I don’t even make $60 a month on my books. So maybe consider that next time you infer that a US author doesn’t want to “include” their international readers 🙁

  5. Boo Vickery

I LOVE this, what you’ll be doing every Tuesday! :O I love ghost books and all of my life have had ghost things happen to me and my family. Since I was about 4 I had a ghost I yelled at, and a child ghost my age who followed me from house to house until I was about 8. I LOVE the pictures above and I wish I was able to have entered the giveaways (didn’t know about this until now!) Getting the Freebies now! Thank you again!! 😀
